Gods Faithfulness (10-23-11)

Lamentations 3:22-23 - "The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness."

God is faithful. That's just part of His unchangeable character, and actually, it's a part of His character that proves to us that He doesn't change. 2 Timothy 2:13 says - "If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself." Faithful is just what God is, and His faithfulness does not depend on us. God has given us unconditional promises in His Word, and His fulfilling of those promises isn't dependent on our performance. Even when we are completely faithless God remains completely faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says - "Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass." According to the Bible God has called us according to His divine purpose, He has called us into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ, we've been called to peace, called to freedom, called in one body, called for sanctification, called to eternal life, called with a holy calling, and so on, and none of it depends on us. He who calls us is faithful, and He will surly bring it to pass. Isn't it great to know that no matter what we do we cannot change our standing with God? He called us to Himself for His purpose, and He never changes despite our unfaithness. 1 Corinthians 1:9 - "God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
It is in Gods faithfulness that He performs all His work, and His faithfulness is perfect. He is not inconsistent. Isaiah 25:1 says - "O
Lord, Thou art my God; I will exalt Thee, I will give thanks to Thy name; For Thou hast worked wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness."
It's in this same faithfulness that God protects us from our adversary the devil. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 says - "But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one." With God protecting us what cause do we have to fear? In 1 John 5:18 we're told that as children of God we're kept by the power of Jesus Christ and the evil one does not touch us. If God is for us, who can stand against us?
We're also told in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that - "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it." God knows exactly how much we can stand, and He allows the devil to tempt us in order to test our faith, but He is faithful and He will never give us more than He strengthens us to resist.
In light of the Lords faithfulness, Hebrews 10:23 says - "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
