Mark 16:19 - "So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to
them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of
God."
Hebrews 1:3 - "And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation
of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made
purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on
high."
Hebrews 10:12 - "but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God."
Hebrews 12:2 - "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who
for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat
down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Several times after Jesus ascended into heaven we're told that He sat down at the right hand of God. But in Acts chapter 7 when Stephen is about to be killed for his faith, it says in verses 55-56 - "But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
When Jesus finished His work here on earth, He then sat down at the right hand of God because His work was finished, as He said. But I think it's interesting that when Stephen saw Him He was standing. Jesus said in Matthew 10:32-33 - "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." This is the lesson I think we can learn from this, if you stand for Christ He will stand for you.
