As well as obedience, there are other things that the Bible
says God desires more than sacrifice. Proverbs 21:3 says - “'To do
righteousness and justice Is desired by the LORD more than sacrifice.” In
Genesis God says that that is the reason why He chose Abraham. He says in Genesis
18:19 - "For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his
household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and
justice."
This is directly tied to obedience. Notice He said, "to keep the way of the LORD (obedience) by doing righteousness and justice." In Isaiah 56:1 it says - “Thus says the LORD, Preserve justice and do righteousness.”
Righteousness and justice are the means by which we keep the way of the Lord. And in Isaiah He commanded us to preserve righteousness and do justice. So when we preserve righteousness and do justice not only are we obeying His command, but through our obedience to that command we are keeping the way of the Lord.(obedience)
Hosea 6:6 - “For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.”
Micah 6:6-8 - “With what shall I come to the LORD And bow myself before the God on high? Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings, With yearling calves? Does the LORD take delight in thousands of rams, In ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my firstborn for my rebellious acts, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?”
These verses tell us of three things that the Lord not only desires, but actually requires of us. "to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God"
So to sum this up The Lord desires that we do righteousness and Justice, He delights in loyalty and the knowledge of God, and He requires that we do justice, that we love kindness, and that we walk humbly with our God.
