2 Peter 1:5-7
"Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self control, and in your self control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness..."
Step 1: Faith
Step 2: Moral excellence (virtue)
Step 3: Knowledge
Step 4: Self control (temperance)
Step 5: Perseverance (patience, endurance)
Step 6: Godliness
Step 7: Brotherly kindness
This is the only verse in the bible that uses the words brotherly kindness. Other phrases that have the same root words (philos "loving" + adelphos "brother") are "brotherly love" and "love of the brethren". They all refer to loving other christians. Which makes sense. Since God is our Father, and has adopted us as sons through the blood of Christ (Gal 4:4-7) we should love one another with brotherly love.
But don't take my word for it, here are some other verses to back it up.
-Romans 12:10 -"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor"
-Hebrews 13:1 -"Let love of the brethren continue."
-1 Peter 1:22 -"Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart"
This isn't something we can experience apart from Christ. And once we're in Christ it's not something we can learn how to do on our own or from any other person. This brotherly kindness can only be taught by God
1 Thessalonians 4:9 -"Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another"
