Colossians 3:15 - 'Let the peace of Christ rule in your
hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.'
This verse has been going through my mind all day. Most often, when I think about peace the first verse that comes to mind is Philippians 4:6-7 which says, 'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.'
We're told to let Gods peace rule in our heart, not just to let it live there, but rule. If the peace of God is ruling in our hearts than that means it is in charge. When we think about a ruler we think about someone who is in charge. They make the rules, and if anyone doesn't follow them they're done away with. If we are allowing the peace of God to rule in our hearts that means we'll never be anxious. Fear, anxiety and conflict will be done away with.
The way to allow peace to rule is by praying rather than becoming anxious as Philippians 4 says. And when we do that not only will the peace of God rule in our hearts, it will also guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.
