Psalm 50:10-12 (God is speaking
in this passage)
"For every beast of the forest is Mine,
The cattle on a thousand hills.
"I know every bird of the mountains,
And everything that moves in the field is Mine.
"If I were hungry I would not tell you,
For the world is Mine, and all it contains."
These verses are a great comfort and a great reminder. It doesn't matter what the economy is like, God owns everything. Do I need food? All the food in the world belongs to God. Ask Him. Do I need gas for my car? All the gas in the world belongs to God. Ask Him. Do I need money to pay my bills? All the money in the world belongs to God. Ask Him.
He says later on in the chapter (vs. 15) "Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you." This chapter also talks a lot about sacrifices. And the last two times it mentions sacrifices, it calls them "a sacrifice of thanksgiving".
So to recap, God owns everything. If we call on Him He will rescue us, and we need to give thanks to Him.
A couple of weeks ago someone was talking to Tyler about his work out at Aletheia Springs, and they said something about money. And he responded by saying something like "Well I'm not worried about that, because my Father is the owner of the cattle on a thousand hills."
And as I was reading this passage this morning it really hit me that God really is the owner of the cattle on a thousand hills. THAT'S A LOT OF COWS! Do you know how many hamburgers that would make? Why should I worry about going hungry? Seriously though, do I really live my life worry free knowing that God doesn't lack the means to provide for me?
This also brings to mind something that Jesus said in Matthew 7. -"Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? "Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!"
Since our Father owns everything, we'll never need to worry about lacking anything. How cool is that?
One more verse.
Philippians 4:19 -"And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
