Isaiah 40:29-31 (8-29-10)
"He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly. Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary."
Going along with what I talked about yesterday, we need to strengthen ourselves in the Lord our God. We have no strength apart from Him. He needs to be our only strength. God doesn't strengthen the strong. He strengthens the weary. We need to wait on Him, and He will renew our strength.
Waiting is something I struggle with. I get impatient. I want results and I want them now! But God says to wait. Wait on Me. Just wait on Me, I'll strengthen you.
2 Corinthians 1:7-9 – “and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort. For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead.”
God makes sure that we won't rely on our own strength. He'll allow us to be tried simply so that His power can be perfected through us. What a blessing!
