Ephesians 4:29 - "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your
mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of
the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear."
In this verse we're told to speak in such a way that what we say will give grace to those who hear. We're also told in Colossians 4:6 to - "Let your speech always be with grace". Speaking with grace is not something that comes naturally. But as Christians it shouldn't be that difficult. Grace is something that God granted to us in abundance. This grace should be not only filling us, but also pouring out of us. Think about it. Jesus said in Matthew 12:34 - "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." Since God fills our hearts our speech should reflect it. Our words should be wholesome. They should build up and not tear down. They should encourage, not discourage.
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Matthew 12:36 - "But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment."
Choose your words carefully.
