First Thessalonians 2:13 - "For this reason we also
constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard
from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the
word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe."
The word of God is unlike any other book. It has a living quality. And not only is it alive, but it's also active. It performs it's work in us who believe. We're told in Hebrews 4:12 that - "The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
In Psalm 19 it says that the word of God is perfect, it's sure, it's right, it's pure, it's clean, it's true. We're told that it restores the soul, it makes wise the simple, it rejoices the heart, it enlightens the eyes, the word of God endures forever, it's all together righteous, more desirable than gold, sweeter than honey. By it God warns His servant, and in keeping it is great reward.
That's a lot to chew on. There is no other book like it. This living, active, eternal, instructive word of God is performing it's work inside of us. What a thought. Makes me want to spend more time taking it in.
