Thanksgiving (11-25-10)

I was reading in Colossians this morning, and being Thanksgiving, these are the verses that stood out to me.

Colossians 3:15-17 - "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father."
In these three verse, the first one talks about the peace of Christ, the second talks about singing, and the third talks about "whatever you do", and they all end with the same thing. Thanksgiving. Verse 17 is something I especially need to work on. I mean, when the peace of Christ is ruling in my heart, or when I'm singing songs of praise to God it's easy to overflow with thanksgiving. But It's not so easy to be thankful in everything I do. And yet it's something that we're told to do.

And also further on in Colossians 4:2 it says - "Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving." This idea is also spoken about in Philippians 4:6 it says - "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
